Dentists around the World are seeing an explosion in tooth decay in their patients as one of the side-effects of wearing a mask becomes apparent.
This new phenomenon has been duped ‘Mask Mouth’ by the owners of one Manhattan Dental practice in New York City.
Dr. Rob Raimondi told Fox News[1]:
We’re seeing inflammation in people’s gums that have been healthy forever, and cavities in people who have never had them before.
About 50 percent of our patients are being impacted by this, [so] we decided to name it “mask mouth
Tooth decay isn’t just putting your teeth at risk either, left untreated it can lead to a whole host of health problems including strokes[2] and heart attacks[3].
This is just one more hidden side-effect of the pandemic which is now just beginning to show it’s ugly head. How many more unintentional side-effects will we see from the measures taken to protect us from Covid-19?
In the UK they have already identified that almost as many people have died from lack of health care facilities throughout the lockdown period as they did from the virus itself.
Between March and May there were 25,000 coronavirus deaths.
At the same time 16,000 others also died, including 6,000 too scared to go to A&E.[4]
And this is just the beginning of deaths caused by the measures taken to protect us from Covid-19. Some estimates have suggested as many as 200,000 people may lose their lives because of the Lockdown[5]
Look after yourselves out there, it does not look like this pandemic is going away anytime soon and divisions in society are getting stronger every day.
