All hail the magical Covid-19 Vaccine, it is our saviour, our only hope for a return to something that resembles normal. Well, that’s how you’d end up feeling if you only had the media to rely on.
But is it all champagne and party poppers?
A quick look at probably the most important part of any vaccine study soon reveals that maybe we should stop the celebrations and dig out the pitchforks.
While the study published in The New England Journal of Medicine[1] stated:
no trial-limiting safety concerns were identified. These findings support further development of this vaccine.[1]
But a closer look at the study makes you question how on earth they could come up with such a conclusion?
With 80% of healthy subjects (avg age 33 years old) in the 100 mcg and 250 mcg dose groups resulting in moderate to severe adverse events after the 2nd vaccination, it really doesn’t appear to be what the average person would call ‘safe’.
The Childrens Health Defense has summarized these results in simple table[2]:
But that’s not all. We still do not know what happens when these vaccinated subjects come into contact with the virus itself. As I’ve pointed out on numerous occasions, all previous attempts at a coronavirus vaccine have resulted in animal subject having a severe immune reaction to the virus, often resulting in death.
But since no animal trials have been performed with the Moderna vaccine it seems as they will wait and see what happens with their human subjects.
It’s also worth noting that the study group was made up of healthy people in their prime, there are no elderly, no young, no pregnant women and no people with underlying health problems.
It is these same more vulnerable people that are first in line to get the vaccine if and when it finally makes general distribution.
Based on the study results it seems this vaccine is something akin to Russian Roulette, remain extremely cautious.
