The UK Government consultation for ‘Distributing Vaccines for Covid19 and Influenza’ ends today. The Government has failed to advertise this consultation themselves, and so it has been down to the public to share its existence.
Here are some examples of how you can respond to the points given:
Temporary authorisation of the supply of unlicensed products
The vaccine process even prior to COVID19 was poor, with limited safety trials, massive conflicts of interest and lack of transparency. To skip any part of the already inadequate process is not acceptable.
Civil liability and immunity
It is disgusting that the producer of a product that will be injected into the bodies of the public, young and old, has no liability if their product causes damage. What motivations do the manufacturers have to ensure the safety of their product if they are not held accountable when it goes wrong.
Expansion to the workforce eligible to administer vaccinations
Increasing the number of people eligible to administer vaccines is simply increasing the probability of mistakes and error in the administering process. Everything being proposed seems to be about getting this vaccine out as soon as possible into the population. But why, current risk from COVID19 is minimal, the risk is not significant in comparison to previous infectious viruses such as influenza.
Vaccine promotion
No pharmaceutical or medical intervention should be promoting their products to encourage its usage. This is particularly true when it comes to vaccines, and even more so when it’s being fast tracked, as is the case with the COVID19.
Provisions for wholesale dealing of vaccines
This is just another way to get the vaccine out to the public as quick as possible. Because of all the reasons mentioned in my previous responses, this is not something I approve of.
