Doctors are now being encouraged to label deaths as COVID-19 even if no test is present, assumptions are acceptable and they even state that no repercussions from misdiagnosis of death are likely to occur.
Right from the beginning of this pandemic we have been saying the numbers are wrong, they are worse than useless. Even without health authorities pushing emails to doctors encouraging the use of the COVID-19 cause of death on death certificates, the deaths recorded were always likely to be higher than the reality.
In times of crisis, when the World has been placed into a state of fear, fear of a ‘deadly’ virus it is inevitable that many assumptions will be made when people turn up with respiratory problems and they later go onto die it is inevitable that some of these people will go down as COVID-19 deaths. However, it is highly unlikely deaths caused by the virus will be missed and labelled as influenza.
