A 73-year-old Ontario senior citizen was shot and killed outside his home yesterday by police following an incident at a local market. Details are still a little hazy, but here is some snippets from various news sources:
The man had refused to wear a mask and allegedly assaulted a grocery store employee before driving away, Ontario Provincial Police say.
Police were called to a Valu-Mart in Minden, Ont., just after 8 a.m., OPP Sgt. Jason Folz said.
Officers tried to stop the suspect’s car, but they refrained “in the interest of public safety” before doing a follow-up investigation, Folz said.[1]
…on Wednesday morning, Ontario Provincial police responded to a call to the Valu-Mart in Minden, in central Ontario’s cottage country. A 73-year-old man had allegedly assaulted an employee after refusing to put on a mask to enter the store.
It ended in a police confrontation and shooting near the man’s home.
“The guy just didn’t want to wear a mask,” store owner Linda Easton told the Minden Times, the local newspaper.[2]
The division caused by masks is entirely driven by the mandates being implemented around the World, whatever you believe about the virus, the dangers it poses and the abilities of a face mask to protect you from this perceived danger – this social division is not worth it. It really isn’t.
I fear this type of escalation isn’t going to be the last.
